Miha Zadnikar

Miha Zadnikar (1962) graduated in Ethnology, Cultural Anthropology and Sociology of Culture (Faculty of Arts, University of Ljubljana); finished High School of Music (clarinet). Prolific cultural, social and political activist; essayist, columnist and lecturer from 1986 on; in the late 80's and early 90's editor-in-charge of film and music newspapers Ekran and Revija Glasbene mladine (Jeunesses musicales); radio broadcasting host (Radio Študent; Radio Slovenia). Former Film Music Curator to the Slovenian Cinematheque (1994-2005), where he established and organized quite popular series "Cinema-Ear" (silent films with both avantgarde and traditional musics; small groups and orchestras); from 1994 to 2004 lecturer of Sociology of Music (Faculty of Arts, Ljubljana). One of the crucial figures in the group that provoked and organized squatting of the former military barracks and starting to establish AKC Metelkova (1993). Programme Coordinator of the Gromka Club, AKC Metelkova (1999-2004). Runs Defonija Concert Series (est. 1999), presenting mostly free- and new musics, innovative jazz and European improvisation, avant-, noise and related unbound musics.  

Miha Zadnikar is a member of program board to the Jazz Cerkno festival.
