Romain Dugelay is a French musician, arranger, composer and improviser, with a unique style and artistic will. In 2017, he set up the 4000 company.
In R. Dugelay's artistic career, the Kouma trio (created in 2010) holds a pivotal position. It is indeed within this ensemble that he developed and affirmed his musical language, itself a melting pot of 3 families: a contemporary writing, drawn from musicians such as S. Payen, F. Cassol or G. Orti, the taste for improvisation transmitted by J. Cohen during his time at the ENM in Villeurbanne and the rock and generous energy of the current music scene that he has experienced during many creations and organizations imagined within the Grolektif (a collective of Lyon musicians since 2004). Thus Kouma synthesizes these various experiences, the matrix of creations that animates him today: the sextet Polymorphie where he composes around poetic texts and the Franco-Colombian ensembles Pixvae and Kaixu.
At the end of 2017 he decided to set up his own artistic company, the Compagnie 4000, in order to support his artistic proposals and affirm his unique artistic positioning.
