Jazz Cerkno program director
Simon Kenda (1985) has been a part of the organizational and programming team of the Jazz Cerkno
institute since 2014, where he was invited on the basis of rich experience he gained during his 10
years of involvement in the organization of music and cultural events and the management of non-
governmental organizations. In the beginning of 2015, after the sudden death of Boštjan Cvek, he
took over the management and preparation of all program content of the Jazz Cerkno Institute. Here
he continues with the original program guidelines of the institute which organizes internationally
known festival Jazz Cerkno and concert series called Festival Keltika, where they program about 25
concerts per year. As program director he was invited to major jazz meetings such as Jazzahead!,
European jazz conference, Belgian Jazz Meeting, Luxembourg jazz meeting, Kick jazz festival Austria.
He regularly visits important European festivals abroad such as the Saalfelden Jazz Festival, Skopje
Jazz Festival and Jazz fest Sarajevo and also cooperates with program related festivals such as
Artacts, Unlimited, Jazz & Wine Cormons, Ring ring Belgrade... Since 2018 Jazz Cerkno is also member of European jazz network. In this way he broadens the knowledge of jazz and related music, keeps in touch with European promoters and strengthens existing program cooperation with foreign festivals, venues and promotors.
